Introducing Langya Mountain

Langya Mountain, located in Yi County, Baoding City, Hebei Province, 45 kilometers from the county seat, is part of the Taihang Mountains. Composed of five clusters of 36 peaks, its main peak, Lotus Petal, stands at 1,105 meters. The mountain is named for its numerous, rugged peaks, its resemblance to wolf teeth, and the deeds of the "Five Heroes of Langya Mountain."

During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Japanese army swept through Langya Mountain. To cover the main force's retreat, Eighth Route Army soldiers fought for five hours, fired their last bullet, and heroically jumped off a cliff. The heroic deeds of the five heroes are commemorated in a Five Heroes Memorial Tower on Qipantuo, the main peak of Langya Mountain. Rebuilt in 1958, it features the inscription "Memorial Tower of the Five Heroes of Langya Mountain" by Marshal Nie Rongzhen.
