Introducing Pujiu Temple

Puji Temple, located on the plateau of Xixiang Village in Puzhou Town, Yongji City, was built during the reign of Empress Wu Zetian of the Tang Dynasty. It is a Buddhist monastery. From the top of the plateau to the bottom, halls, pavilions, corridors, and pagodas rise gradually, following the plateau's terrain, creating a majestic, upright, and elegant atmosphere. The love story depicted in Wang Shifu's Yuan Dynasty novel "The Story of the West Chamber," where "Hongniang ties the knot under the moonlight, and Zhang Sheng chances upon Cui Yingying," takes place within Puji Temple.

Highlights: Inside the temple is a square brick pagoda, originally named the Relic Pagoda and more commonly known as the Yingying Pagoda. This pagoda, along with the Echo Wall at the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, the Baolun Temple Pagoda in Henan Province, and the Stone Qin at the Big Buddha Temple in Tongnan County, Sichuan Province, are considered one of the four existing echoing structures in China.

It is known as one of the six most amazing towers in the world, along with the Shaking Head Tower in Shan State, Myanmar, the Musical Tower in Szolnok, Hungary, the Chandelure in Marrakech, Morocco, the Clock Tower in Paris, France, and the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy.
