The Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, also known as the Sakyamuni Pagoda (also known as the Fogong Temple Sakyamuni Pagoda), is located within the Fogong Temple northwest of Yingxian County, Shuozhou City, Shanxi Province. It is China's tallest, oldest, and only existing wooden pagoda. Along with the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy and the Eiffel Tower in Paris, it is considered one of the "Three Wonders of the World." It is recognized by the Guinness World Records as the "world's tallest wooden pagoda." Constructed entirely of wood, without nails or rivets, the pagoda houses two tooth relics of Sakyamuni Buddha.
Visit: To protect the ancient pagoda, visitors are no longer allowed to ascend the pagoda and can only explore the first floor. However, this does not affect your appreciation of this thousand-year-old pagoda. On the ground floor, there are two gates, one in the north and one in the south. Entering the first floor, you'll see an 11-meter-tall statue of Sakyamuni Buddha, with a dignified and peaceful expression.
