Introducing Princess Castle

Located south of Tashkurgan City in Xinjiang, Princess Fortress is nestled in the Tagdunbash Pamir Mountains in the Karaqi Ancient Gorge. It's a unique military fortress and one of the tallest known ancient fortresses in my country. It's known as "Kizilkurgan" by the local Tajik people. Of the ruins, only a southern earthen wall and several remains of human habitation within it remain. Built during the Southern and Northern Dynasties, it was intended to safeguard traffic along the ancient Silk Road. The remains include city walls, double gates, underground crypts, and stone chambers. The fortress's location on a steep, treacherous hilltop marked a strategic point on the southern route of the Silk Road.
