Yangshuo Park, founded in 1915 and originally named "Shouyang Park" after the nearby Shouyang Mountain, now has two gates. Above the main gate is inscribed the characters "Yangshuo Park" in the handwriting of renowned contemporary calligrapher Liu Haisu. The small gate, southwest of the entrance to Bilian Cave, was built in 1980 and bears the park's name in calligraphy by renowned painter Lu Yanshao. The park is shaded by osmanthus trees, lush bamboo, and abundant with flowers and fruits, creating a fragrant atmosphere year-round. Shuangyue Creek meanders through the park. The park also boasts cultural attractions such as a monument to revolutionary martyrs. Legend has it that a pavilion stands on the hillside of Duxiu Mountain. Legend has it that an immortal once visited on a crane and released it, hence the name "Release Crane Pavilion."
