Tiantai Temple, one of only four remaining Tang Dynasty wooden structures in my country, is located on Tan-shaped Gushan Mountain, 25 kilometers northeast of Pingshun County, Changzhi City. Built in 907, the fourth year of the Tianyou reign of the Tang Dynasty, the temple is modest in scale, exemplifying the late Tang Dynasty style. It is a National Key Cultural Relic Protection Site. Partial inscriptions discovered during a major renovation in 2014 suggest the existing structure may have been constructed during the Later Tang Dynasty, during the Five Dynasties period.

Tiantai Temple, flanked by a valley to the east and the Zhang River to the west, faces south and occupies an area of ​​970 square meters, with a building area of ​​over 90 square meters. A Tang Dynasty stele stands in the eastern part of the courtyard. Centuries of wind and rain have eroded the inscription, making it difficult to read.

The Tiantai Temple's main hall is modest in scale, yet boasts a simple structure, solid connections, and a lack of elaborate ornamentation, reflecting the hallmarks of Tang Dynasty architecture. Although it bears numerous traces of later renovations, it remains a rare example of a surviving Tang Dynasty wooden structure in my country, possessing significant academic value.
