Introducing Pingzhou Academy

Pingzhou Academy, located in Lingling District, Yongzhou City, Hunan Province, was founded in 1739, the fourth year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty. It is a historic private academy. Founded by Sui Wenhuan, a native of Lingling and the magistrate of Taoyuan County (present-day Siyang, Jiangsu Province), and his son, Sui Wenhuan, it was rebuilt in 1886 by renowned Hunan Army generals Wang Debang and Xi Baotian.
