Termutu is located at the eastern foot of Hanshan Mountain in the heart of the Horqin Grassland in Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia. Its core area is approximately 800 meters above sea level, 60 kilometers from Tongliao City. It lies within the transition zone between the Yanshan Mountains and the grasslands. The Hanshan Mountains are composed of a mixture of volcanic and granite rocks, weathered to form a rugged rock formation. Termutu also boasts a three-dimensional grassland-forest ecosystem, with alfalfa meadows at the foot, birch and Mongolian oak forests along the mountainside, and a panoramic view of the undulating grassland horizon from the summit.
Suitable season for visiting:
1. Spring: From May to early June,
wild apricot blossoms blanket the mountains, and new grass forms a carpet.
2. Summer: From June to August,
meadows are covered in purple alfalfa blossoms.
3. Autumn: From late September to mid-October,
birch forests blaze with gold, and sea buckthorn berries blaze with crimson.
4. Winter: From December to February,
snow-covered rock formations and a mysterious rime landscape unfold.
Recommended places to visit:
1. Rock Formation Observation Deck
Located at the highest point on the southern slope of Hanshan Mountain, this natural formation is formed by a cluster of wind-eroded rock pillars.
Climb to "Eagle's Beak Rock" to take aerial photos of the grassland's curves, using a telephoto lens to capture the grazing sheep like moving white dots.
2. Alfalfa Wildflower Valley (Summer Only)
The gentle slope at the foot of the mountain is covered with blue and purple alfalfa flowers. I was photographed lying down in a white long skirt, with the flowers blurred in the foreground and the strange rocks in the background.
3. Hunter Trail Cultural Belt
Cultural Experience: Learn to play the Mongol hunting horn from herders, shoot at straw targets with a traditional birch bow, and listen to the "Khorchin Chaoer Epic" chanting around the campfire in the evening.
Hiking tips:
1. Lightweight Meadow Loop
Pastoralists' Inn → Alfalfa Valley → Birch Forest Observation Deck → Return.
2. Hanshan Stonehenge Challenge Line
West entrance → Cross the thorn bush → Climb to the top of the jagged rock formation → Walk east along the ridge to Eagle Rock → Descend into the Seabuckthorn Valley.
3. Autumn Color Forest Crossing Route
In the "Oil Painting Canyon" on the northern slope of Han Mountain, golden Mongolian oaks and fiery red sea buckthorn forests are intertwined.
