Introducing Arches National Park
Arches National Park, located near Moab in Utah, USA, covers an area of 309 square kilometers and preserves more than 2,000 natural rock arches, including the world-famous Delicate Arch.
This area boasts one of the world's largest concentrations of natural sandstone arches, with over 2,000 catalogued. The smallest is only three feet wide, while the largest, Landscape Arch, reaches 306 feet. The stones themselves feature strikingly contrasting colors and textures. The rocks were formed 300 million years ago when this area was once a vast ocean. After the waters receded, over the course of many years, salt beds and other debris were squeezed into rock, becoming increasingly thicker. Later, the bottom of the salt bed shattered under the pressure from above. Further uplift and movement of the Earth's crust, coupled with weathering and erosion, gave rise to the arches.
