Introducing Broken Bridge and Remaining Snow
Located at the east end of Bai Causeway, Broken Bridge with Residual Snow forms the only path to Gushan. It is a famous sight on West Lake, renowned for the way the bridge appears and disappears on the lake surface during winter snowfall. It is one of the ten scenic spots of West Lake.
The so-called Broken Bridge with Remaining Snow does not mean looking at the snow while standing on the Broken Bridge, but looking at the entire embankment from a high place opposite (including the mountain). The Broken Bridge is relatively protruding, and after the snow on it melts, it looks like a broken silver chain from a distance.
There are pavilions such as the Imperial Stele Pavilion at the end of the bridge, facing the West Lake and opposite the Baoshishan Mountain and Baochu Pagoda across the lake. The mountain, pagoda, lake, pavilion, bridge and peach and willow trees by the lake form a picturesque scenery.
The Broken Bridge is world-famous, largely due to the fact that several important storylines in "The Legend of White Snake" took place here.
Climate and best time to travel
Suitable for all seasons, best in winter
It is the best place to enjoy the snowy scenery of West Lake in winter. When the snow first falls, the sunny side of the bridge melts, but the shady side is still covered with snow. From a high vantage point, the bridge appears to be broken, forming the famous "Broken Bridge with Residual Snow".
