The Splendid China Folk Village itself consists of two parts, Splendid China and China Folk Village, and now the two parks have been merged.
Splendid China: This area is primarily for viewing and photographing miniature scenic spots. Nearly 100 famous Chinese attractions, scaled down to a 1:15 scale, offer a truly captivating culmination of China's natural beauty and cultural history. Miniature versions of the Great Wall, the Terracotta Army of the Qin Dynasty, the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang, and Huangguoshu Waterfall are all within easy reach, leading to the saying, "Travel all over China in one day."
China Folk Village: You can appreciate the unique customs woven by China's 56 ethnic groups. You can see colorful ethnic minority costumes, the architectural styles of 24 villages, and various folk performances, which are dazzling.
The ratio of the miniature scenic spots of Splendid China to the real scenes is mostly 1:15, with some attractions being 1:10 or 1:8, and the largest being 1:1 (the two caves in Mogao Grottoes). The international miniature ratio is generally 1:25. Therefore, the attractions in "Splendid China" are relatively large in size.
Each of the attractions in "Splendid China" is arranged according to its location on the map of China. The park's layout is scientifically based on the national territory, giving visitors the feeling of walking across a vast map of China. Over 50,000 ceramic figurines are placed throughout the various attractions, earning the park its nickname, "Lilliput Country."
Splendid China Folk Village was opened in 1989 to showcase the diverse cultures, traditions, and landscapes of China. The village includes over 80 miniature versions of famous landmarks and offers a deep dive into the culture and customs of different Chinese ethnic groups.
Located in the Nanshan District of Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, Splendid China Folk Village is easily accessible via the Shenzhen Metro (Line 1, the "Luobao Line," with a stop at the "Splendid China Folk Village" station). It’s also reachable by taxi or bus from major points in Shenzhen.
The park typically opens from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily. The best times to visit are in the spring and autumn months, when the weather is mild and pleasant. Avoid peak holiday seasons (Chinese New Year, Golden Week) as it can get crowded.
The entrance fee for adults is around 180 CNY, and for children or seniors, it is usually lower. Tickets can be purchased online through official websites or apps, or in person at the ticket counter at the entrance of the park.
Booking tickets in advance is not mandatory, but it is recommended, especially during peak travel seasons. You can book tickets up to a few days in advance through online platforms to ensure availability.
It typically takes 3 to 4 hours to fully explore the park, depending on your pace and the number of performances or activities you participate in. If you plan to watch multiple performances or take a boat ride, allocate additional time.
Guided tours are available in Mandarin and can be arranged on-site. Audio guides are also available in multiple languages, including English, which can help enhance your understanding of the exhibits.
Start by visiting the miniature landmarks in the morning, followed by a lunch break at one of the on-site restaurants. Afterward, explore the Folk Art Village to learn more about Chinese culture, and end your visit by attending one of the live performances or relaxing by the lake.
Night visits are not common at Splendid China Folk Village, but there are occasional evening performances and light shows, especially during holidays or special events. It’s recommended to check the schedule before your visit to see if any special events are planned.
Weekends and public holidays tend to be crowded. The least crowded times are weekdays during the off-peak seasons (spring and autumn). Early mornings are also quieter compared to later in the day.
The park offers clean toilets, several restaurants, and snack bars offering local and international food. There are also water stations and shaded rest areas where you can relax between activities. Souvenir shops are scattered throughout the park.
Splendid China Folk Village is wheelchair accessible, and there are facilities such as ramps for elderly and disabled visitors. Children will enjoy the park’s miniature models and performances. Strollers are available for rent for small children.

There are several hotels close to Splendid China Folk Village, including the InterContinental Shenzhen and the OCT East Hotel, which are both located in the same district and offer easy access to the park.
Nearby attractions include OCT East Shenzhen, a large theme park with multiple entertainment zones, and Window of the World, a park featuring miniatures of global landmarks. Both are within a short distance and can be visited in a day trip.
Souvenir shops in the park sell traditional Chinese handicrafts, miniature models of famous landmarks, and other cultural items such as tea, embroidery, and pottery.
After visiting, you can take a taxi, bus, or metro to other parts of Shenzhen. The nearby Shenzhen Metro station offers easy access to downtown Shenzhen, where you can explore further attractions or head to shopping districts.
