Introducing Tang Mo
Tangmo Village, approximately 5 kilometers from Chengkan, is renowned for its ancient architecture and idyllic scenery. It was founded by Shuju, the great-great-grandfather of Wang Hua, Duke of Yue during the Tang Dynasty. In 923 AD, Wang Hua's descendant, Wang Sili, returned to his hometown, where Shuju had planted a vast expanse of lush ginkgo trees. He then relocated his descendants to the area, forming a village where the entire clan lived together. Never forgetting the Tang Dynasty's favor for their ancestor, Wang Hua, the Wang family decided to build a village reminiscent of its heyday, naming it "Tangmo." Tangmo is renowned for its lush, thousand-year-old ginkgo trees, the filial piety of its construction of the "West Lake," the beauty of the flowing water along Zhongjie Street, the unique "Ten Bridges, Nine Scenes," the elegant inscriptions by renowned artists, and the reputation of its fellow Hanlin scholars. It is a model of ancient Huizhou villages and has been designated the only National Civilized Village in Anhui Province, an Outstanding Civilized Demonstration Scenic Area in Anhui Province, and one of Huangshan City's top ten scenic spots.
