                    Yanping District is located in north-central Fujian Province, at the confluence of the Jianxi and Xixi rivers. Situated at the lowest point of the Central Fujian Valley, Yanping District is dominated by low mountains in the northeast, medium mountains in the north, low and medium mountains in the south, and low mountains and hills in the west. It has a mid-subtropical marine monsoon climate, with an average annual temperature of 19.3°C and an annual precipitation of 1,669 mm.
