Parashorea chinensis is a new genus and species, with only three known in China, found in the broad-leaved forests of Fadou Township in Xichou. It is an ancient relict species from the Tertiary and Quaternary periods. Xiaoqiaogou, a provincial-level national nature reserve, boasts a rare magnolia garden, the largest in China in terms of area and second in terms of species. Xichou County also boasts attractions such as the Xiangpingshan Rare Plant Garden, the Lion Mountain Cliff Paintings, the Xisha Xianren Cave Paleolithic Site, and the Southern Xinjiang Martyrs Cemetery.
