Introducing Zhecheng County

Over 6,000 years ago, Emperor Yan, Zhu Xiang, established his capital and was buried in Zhecheng. During the Xia Dynasty, Zhecheng was known as "Zhuye" and, during the Shang Dynasty, "Qiudi." During the Western Zhou Dynasty, it was the founding capital of the State of Chen, one of the "Three Kingdoms." During the Warring States Period, much of the area belonged to the State of Chu. During the Qin Dynasty, the area was established as a county, named "Zhe County" for the Zhegou River, the dense mulberry trees along its banks, and its ancient abundance of mulberry silk. It was officially named "Zhecheng" during the Sui Dynasty, marking over 2,200 years of county government history. This is the birthplace of the Zhu, Hu, and Chen clans of China.
