Shaohuashan National Forest Park is located at the northern foot of the Qinling Mountains, 5 kilometers southeast of Huaxian County, Shaanxi Province, and 85 kilometers west of Xi'an. It is situated on the northern slope of the Qinling Mountains, starting from Yukou in the north, extending to the Qinling watershed in the south, Panlong Mountain and Qianlong Temple in the east, and Shaohua Peak in the west. The altitude is between 600 and 2000 meters.
The scenic area consists of five major scenic areas: Qianlong Temple, Shaohua Peak, Hongya Lake, Shimen Gorge, and Milin Valley. Shaohua Mountain is not only a famous Taoist mountain in China, but also the sister mountain of Huashan Mountain in the west. Because it is connected to Huashan Mountain in the west and faces each other from a distance, they are collectively known as the "Two Huas". However, it is lower than Huashan Mountain, hence the name Shaohua Mountain, also known as Xiaohua Mountain.
Shaohua Mountain, known since ancient times as the " Two Huas " along with Huashan Mountain for its steepness and ruggedness, is the setting for many of the stories of Shi Jin, the Nine-Patterned Dragon, in the famous novel "Water Margin." It's also a great place for hiking, fitness, and connecting with nature.
The entire forest park has endless beautiful scenery and a pleasant climate, making it an ideal leisure and summer resort.
