Standing atop the mountain, one can gaze upon the surrounding Masses Mountains, the Wolf God facing each other, the Stone Chicken lying in state, the majestic Luliang Mountains, the faintly visible Yellow River, and a forest of strangely shaped rocks. It is a rocky mountain that embodies the most distinctive features of northern Shaanxi's geography. The first onshore oil well in China is located in the west of Yanchang County. It was surveyed and drilled successfully in 1907 by Hong Yin, the deputy magistrate of the late Qing Dynasty, who hired Japanese technicians and others to obtain industrial oil flow. It was named "Yanyi Well", ending the history of no oil production in mainland China.
