Introducing Hangzhou Phoenix Mountain

Phoenix Mountain is located southeast of Hangzhou. Its main peak rises 178 meters above sea level. It borders West Lake to the north and the riverbank to the south, shaped like a flying phoenix, hence its name. During the Sui and Tang dynasties, this was the site of a prefecture. During the Five Dynasties, the Wuyue Kingdom established it as its capital and built a secondary city.

This is the birthplace of the Wuyue Culture and the Southern Song Culture. Phoenix Mountain retains some of its ruins, as well as a man-made replica of the "Little West Lake," and features scenic structures such as the "Six Bridges" and the "Flying Peak."

Phoenix Mountain is also famous for the story of Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai, who were classmates at Wansong Academy on the northern slope of Phoenix Mountain. This gave this historic mountain, once a magnificent forbidden garden, the nickname "Mountain of Love."
