Guangfulin, located 6 kilometers northwest of Songjiang City on the east bank of Chenshantang, is situated in the Songjiang University Town of Shanghai. Anciently, it was part of the Huating Valley, where the splendid Guangfulin culture flourished. It was the cultural, political, economic, and transportation center of the eastern Wu Dynasty during the ancient period.
Archaeological evidence has initially confirmed the existence of Guangfulin's ancient civilization. As early as 5,000 years ago, Songjiang residents cultivated and lived in the Guangfulin area. Rice cultivation was already widespread in the area during the late Neolithic period, four to five thousand years ago, demonstrating a long history of agriculture.
Whether it's just broken walls or buried deep in the soil, it bears witness to the city's rise and development. Guangfulin is the root of Shanghai's history and culture, a land that nurtured the city's pulse and civilization.
