Jiuyan Bridge, located in Chengdu's Jinjiang District, lives up to its name, boasting nine arches. Formerly known as Hongji Bridge and also as Zhenjiang Bridge, it is the largest stone arch bridge across the Jinjiang River. Ancient people often described the grandeur of stone arch bridges as "a long rainbow lying on the waves," but Jiuyan Bridge is not a "long rainbow" but rather a "bow." Not far south of the bridge, the Huilan Pagoda (commonly known as the White Pagoda), built at the same time as the bridge, once stood in stark contrast, creating a unique scene of "the bridge is a bow, the pagoda an arrow."
