Shenlong Gorge is located in Nanping Town, Nanchuan District, Chongqing, west of Jinfo Mountain. Its mountainous terrain is a remnant of the Dalou Mountains. Formed by millions of years of crustal movement, Shenlong Gorge is a pristine ecological canyon. Most of the mountains rise above 1,300 meters, with the highest peak, Baoziling, at 1,380 meters. This is the closest and most pristine ecological canyon to Chongqing's main urban area.

The Shenlong Gorge Grand Canyon is named after its topography, which resembles a giant dragon lying across a mountain stream. Cliffs include the Guilong Valley Fish Scale Rock, the Cat Pecking Cliff, the Shenlong Cave Cliff, and the Fire Rock Cliff. Waterfalls include the Mozi Cave Waterfall, the Feilong Waterfall, the Biquan Yingyue Waterfall, and the Shenlong Cave Waterfall.
