Huaying Mountain is surrounded by steep mountains on all sides, and the lake is winding and beautiful. It is characterized by secluded scenery, green water, high waterfalls and strange rocks. It is known as the "Fairyland on Earth".
The "Lion Island" is lush with trees, the "One Line Sky" is a steep cliff, the "Sanyuan Cave" is mysterious and deep, and the lake dam stands tall and majestic, with a look that is ingenious and surpasses nature.
On clear nights, the stars are bright and the moon is shining, while the lake and islands are hazy, creating a dreamlike scene like the fairyland of Penglai. In 1987, it was designated as a municipal scenic spot, making it a rare and ideal place for summer vacation, sightseeing and recuperation.

Shengtian Lake, located in Qijiang District, Chongqing, is a scenic reservoir surrounded by mountains and forests. It is valued for its ecological environment, recreational use, and as a local tourist destination combining natural beauty with leisure activities.
Shengtian Lake is in Qijiang District, southwest of central Chongqing. You can reach it by taxi or private car from Chongqing city center (approximately 2–3 hours). Local buses connect Qijiang town to nearby attractions, but private transport is more convenient. Walking and cycling are suitable around the lake.
The lake area is generally open from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The best times to visit are spring and autumn for pleasant weather and colorful scenery; summer is popular but can be hot and crowded, while winter is quiet and scenic.
The entrance fee is around 30–50 CNY per person. Tickets are usually purchased onsite at the entrance; some local travel platforms may allow online booking.
Booking in advance is generally not necessary except during weekends or public holidays when the lake is busier; booking a few days ahead can ensure smoother access.
2–4 hours are sufficient to enjoy the lake, trails, and surrounding scenery. A full day can include hiking and boating activities.
Guided tours are rare; most visitors explore independently. Local signage is primarily in Chinese, so a translation app or guide is helpful for international tourists.
Start at the main entrance, walk or cycle along the lakeside trails, stop for boating or photography, visit picnic areas for a break, and optionally hike nearby hills for panoramic views before returning.
Night visits are limited and generally not recommended; no regular light shows are held. Special events may occur during local festivals.
Weekends, holidays, and summer are the busiest. Visiting on weekdays or in the off-season offers a quieter experience.
Basic facilities such as toilets, benches, picnic areas, and small food stalls are available. There are limited shops, so bringing water and snacks is recommended.
The lakeside paths are mostly flat and suitable for elderly and children. Some hiking trails are steeper and may be challenging. Accessibility for wheelchair users may be limited in certain areas.
Cash is preferred for small stalls; some ticket offices and restaurants may accept mobile payments such as WeChat Pay or Alipay.
Vegetarian options are limited; halal options are rare. Travelers may need to plan ahead for special dietary needs.
Souvenir shops are limited; typical items include local snacks, handicrafts, and small mementos of the lake or Chongqing region.
