Jiayuguan Pass is located 6 kilometers southwest of the urban area of Jiayuguan, in the middle of the narrowest valley of Jiayuguan, on the highest Jiayu Mountain. The city walls on both wings of the city pass through the desert Gobi, 8 kilometers to the north connected to the Black Mountain Hanging Wall Great Wall, and 7 kilometers to the south, it connects to the First Butch in the World. It was the dominant western end of the Great Wall of Ming Dynasty and has been the first pass in Hexi since ancient times.
This is not just a single pass, but is divided into an inner city, an outer city, and a moat. The outer city's majestic water fort offers a distant view of the city, while entering the inner city and climbing the tower offers a glimpse of the Qilian Mountains.
Due to its dangerous terrain and magnificent buildings, it is known as "the most powerful pass in the world" and "the one that connects the frontiers and locks the shadows".
Temperate continental desert climate, best travel period is May to October
