Introducing Taheman Wetland
The Taheman Wetland is located at the foot of the southern slope of the Mushitag Snow Peak, only 30 kilometers from Tashkurgan County. At an altitude of 3,050 meters, it covers an area of 8,000 mu. Surrounded by mountains, the area is low and shaped like a basin.
This wetland is a rare and precious grassland on the Pamir Plateau and a high-quality pasture on which the nomads of Taheman Township depend for their survival. It is also a treasure of Tashkurgan and a shining pearl beneath the icy peaks of Muztagh Ata.
The Taheman Wetland is also known as the "place where divine flowers flourish." According to Tajik legend, flowers are not found on the Pamir Plateau, but only in the "Paradise of the Gods" atop Muztagh Ata. Later, a young Tajik warrior, overcoming numerous dangers, ascended to the "Paradise of the Gods" and brought back two divine flowers, which he planted in what is now Taheman. From then on, the desolate Taheman was transformed into a vibrant meadow, and flowers blossomed across the entire Pamir Plateau.
