Introducing Duxiu Peak Royal City
Located in the heart of Guilin, Jingjiang Prince City was built when Zhu Shouqian, the great-nephew of Ming Taizu Zhu Yuanzhang, was granted the title of Prince of Jingjiang. It is the best-preserved Ming princely palace in my country. After Zhu Yuanzhang bestowed the title upon Zhu Shouqian, he established the palace as his vassal's residence. Construction of the palace took Zhu Shouqian over 20 years, resulting in a history of over 630 years, predating the construction of the Forbidden City in Beijing.
Duxiu Peak, located within the Jingjiang Wangcheng of Guilin, is an integral part of the Wangcheng scenic area. Known as the "Pillar of the Southern Sky," it is historically considered Guilin's highest peak. Rising abruptly, its shape appears as if carved by a knife or an axe. Surrounded by numerous other peaks, the solitary peak stands proudly, resembling the dignity of an emperor. The summit offers the best bird's-eye view of Guilin. Cliffside carvings dot the peak's walls, creating a remarkable scene. In particular, the original inscription of the timeless saying, "Guilin's landscapes are the best under heaven," is found here.
Inside the Taiping Cave at the foot of the peak is the "Tai Sui" cliff carving, a world cultural wonder. Additionally, the mountain boasts the Xuanwu Pavilion, Guanyin Hall, Sanke Temple, and Sanshen Shrine, while Crescent Moon Pond and other scenic spots can be found at its base. At the eastern foot of the mountain lies the Reading Rock, home to the Southern Song Dynasty writer Yan Yanyuan, one of Guilin's oldest famous landmarks. He famously wrote, "Nothing compares to the majestic Duxiu Peak, standing tall among the fortresses," hence the name Duxiu Peak.
