Huangluo Yao Village is located within the Longji Scenic Area, nestled against Longji Mountain and facing the Jinjiang River. It's situated where the Longji Rice Terraces begin their spiral upwards. As the only Yao village among the thirteen villages of Longji, it's inhabited exclusively by the Red Yao people, making it another unique feature of the Longji Rice Terraces.

The villagers are known for their singing and dancing skills, and are warm and welcoming. Visitors to Huangluo Yao Village are welcomed by a procession of Yao girls, dressed in vibrant ethnic costumes, singing sweet folk songs and performing their unique dances and traditional sports. Fragrant oil tea is also served. Singing and dancing performances include long-hair performances, red stick dances, and umbrella dances.

Since ancient times, Hongyao women have had the traditional custom of growing their hair long. Among the 60 households in the village, 60 have hair over one meter long, with the longest reaching 1.7 meters. Their hair is all tied up on their heads. This village has been awarded the Guinness World Record for the Longest Hair in a Group, earning it the title of "The Longest Hair Village in the World."
