Xieyang Island is located in the southeast of Weizhou Island. It was formed by volcanic eruption and is 9 nautical miles away from Weizhou Island. Because you can see the panoramic view of the sun shining on the island from Weizhou Island, and because the island lies across the southeast of Weizhou Island and the south is sunny, it is called Xieyang Island.
Xieyang Island is very small, but boasts a pristine fishing village atmosphere and sea-eroded landscapes. Its shape resembles a blooming lotus, concave in the center and convex on all sides. Along the coast, steep cliffs descend into the abyss, where sharks, fish, shells, and corals are clearly visible. The island boasts warm winters and cool summers, abundant wildflowers, pristine forests, and winding mountain trails. Its unique sea-erosion, marine sedimentary, and lava landscapes make it a paradise for exploration.
The village boasts a variety of tropical fruits and lush vegetation planted in front of and behind houses, creating a refreshing air. The surrounding volcanic rocks are covered in clusters of cacti. The village's poultry and livestock are all free-range, with the occasional sight of black goats, cattle, and chickens among the trees, creating a sense of natural harmony.
Besides its pristine island scenery, another highlight of the island is its geology. The sea caves at the southern pier are truly spectacular, with the azure waters and massive sea caves creating a wondrous spectacle. Several volcanic craters hold fresh corals, crabs, and starfish, all nestling amidst the water. You can enjoy the coral scenery without even diving.
Xieyang Island has a subtropical marine monsoon climate with short winters, long summers, and no distinct spring and autumn seasons. March to December is the best time to visit.
Speedboat is the only way to get to the island. It takes about 30 minutes from Weizhou Island to Xieyang Island.
