It's a rare sight to see wild monkeys (snow monkeys) soaking in an open-air hot spring. Seeing their relaxed expressions, just like humans, brings a smile to everyone's face.

This highland resort has the longest history in Japan. Visitors can enjoy shopping at large-scale clearance stores, as well as enjoying ski resorts and golf courses.
Matsumoto Castle
Comprising five stories and six floors, this extant wooden castle tower (watchtower) is Japan's oldest National Treasure. The striking contrast of black and white mud against the backdrop of the Alpine mountains creates a magnificent spectacle. In spring, it's also a popular spot for cherry blossom viewing, bustling with visitors.
Tsumago-juku (post station)
