Introducing Huili Conference Site

Huili County, Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan, was the first county town the Red Army passed through when entering Sichuan. The Red Army rested and recuperated here, and the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee held the Huili Conference here.

Starting on May 8th, the Third Army launched several assaults on the county town, but due to the enemy's stubborn resistance, they were unsuccessful, only blasting a breach in the city's sturdy western wall. The Third Army besieged the county town for several days until the conference concluded. The site of the Huili Conference is located on a small island in the center of the reservoir, where a monument dedicated to the conference is located.
