Located in Pujiang County, southwest of Chengdu, 83 kilometers from Chengdu, the Chaoyang Lake Scenic Area encompasses Chaoyang Lake, Shixiang Lake, Changtan Lake, and Feixian Pavilion, covering an area of 110 square kilometers. Reclusive of the mundane world, the Chaoyang Lake Scenic Area boasts elegant, clear, and picturesque scenery, earning it the nickname "Green City on the Water." Lush vegetation and waterfowl roam the lakeside, creating a sense of paradise. It is renowned far and wide and is one of the first provincial-level scenic spots.

Erlangtan Cliff Inscriptions
Surrounded by rolling green peaks, the Pujiang River runs through it. The main locations for the statues are Feixian Cave on the mountainside of Biyun Peak, at its foot, Dafoping, and Qinxing Rock. There are 92 niches containing 777 statues. Among them, 64 niches contain 491 statues from the Tang Dynasty; 17 niches contain 256 statues from the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period; and 11 niches contain 30 statues from the Qing Dynasty. Nineteen inscriptions on the statues are found (11 from the Tang Dynasty, 4 from the Later Shu Dynasty, and 4 from the Qing Dynasty). The statues here are not only numerous and diverse, but also beautifully shaped and of high artistic value. The statues in the ninth niche are particularly exquisite. This niche contains 38 statues, including the Three Holy Ones of the West in the round, and the disciples and guardian deities, the Eight Immortals, in high relief. The flat-top niche features a shallow relief of a lush bodhi tree. The flying apsaras are carved in line, with flowing lines and graceful figures, typical of the heyday of the Tang Dynasty. Beneath the Buddha's seat are a shallow relief of musicians, each of which is exquisitely sculpted.
Feixian Pavilion
Feixian Pavilion is located in Chaoyanghu Town, southwest of Pujiang. The Pujiang County Chronicles and an inscription record that during the Han Dynasty, General Mo Gong, a native of Henan, returned victorious from a southern expedition. Enchanted by the sight of "dragons coiling around phoenixes, water solidifying the surrounding mountains," he was so captivated that he resigned from his post and settled there to cultivate himself. He achieved his goal and ascended to heaven atop a crane. Later generations built a pavilion to commemorate him. Built alongside the mountains and water, Feixian Pavilion comprises an arch bridge, a mountain gate, the Yanyan Pavilion, the Lingxu Pavilion, Feixian Lake, and the Yinggong Terrace. Below the pavilion, the waters of the Erlong River flow through, reflecting the verdant peaks, creating a particularly tranquil and secluded scene. It is known as "the most beautiful in western Sichuan." Surrounding the pavilion are the Erlangtan rock carvings, 104 of which remain. Nestled among the rocks is a stele containing the inscription "Emperor Zhenzong of Song Dynasty Granted the Letter to the Prime Minister." The Southern Song monk Wen Yi wrote "Feixian Cave Postscript," along with inscriptions by literati from various dynasties, and over ten other inscriptions, all of high artistic value.
Stone Elephant Lake
Shixiang Lake is located southwest of Pujiang County, approximately 8 kilometers from Changtan Lake. Within the lake area, a vast Masson pine forest shades the winding, winding waters of "Nine Ravines and Eighteen Forks," earning it the nickname "Water Maze." In addition to scenic spots such as "Purple Swallow Rock," "Hanma Spring," "Xiamadeun," "Zhangkou Stone," and "Gaitou Well," newer attractions include "Wolonggang," "Fuling Bay," and "Shixiang Bay."
Chaoyang Lake, a scenic spot developed over the past 20 years, boasts a comprehensive range of tourist facilities. There are over 20 hotels and inns, providing over 2,000 beds, and other amenities are also quite comprehensive. The lake area also offers recreational facilities such as motor boats, speedboats, battery boats, and pedal boats.
The nearby Long Beach Lake offers a variety of water sports including speedboating, skydiving, jet skiing, kayaking, etc.
Long Beach Lake
Changtan Lake, just one kilometer away from Chaoyang Lake, boasts a magnificent surface area of 3,360 mu (approximately 1,000 acres) and a depth of over 30 meters. The lake boasts four major tributaries, three islands, 27 bays, and over a hundred peaks scattered around it. The vast emerald waters of the lake, the lush peaks on both sides, the shimmering waters and the lingering reflections create a series of green galleries, a series of elegant and natural landscapes. The lake area boasts scenic spots such as Golden Turtle Island, Bixia Bay, Crouching Tiger Ridge, Jinzhong Mountain, Yuping Mountain, and Hongyan Village. Each attraction is associated with a moving legend, inspiring endless reverie. The lake's "Chanyao Rock" is a relic of an ancient mountain stream trail. The trail connected Mingshan and Ya'an, and descended to Xinjin and Pengshan. A 2.5-kilometer-long stone staircase still exists as it ascended the cliffs. Pujiang Changtan Lake Water Sports Center is the only high-speed water sports center in Southwest China. It is more than 80 kilometers away from Chengdu, a 40-minute drive by highway. It is adjacent to the famous Chaoyang Lake. The lake covers an area of more than 3,000 acres and is more than 30 meters deep. The lake has four major tributaries, three islands and 27 bays, and more than a hundred mountains are rolling. The green peaks on both sides are reflected in the water, just like a natural painting.
