Located on the northeastern edge of Zoige, the Tiebu region boasts high mountains and deep valleys, a relatively warm climate, lush forests, a well-developed mountain system, and numerous rivers. This pleasant climate, rich vegetation, and unique geographical location provide an ideal "paradise" for wildlife.
This is the home of the rare wild animal, the Iron-clad Sika Deer. Here you can see wild Sika deer in groups of three or five, "dragging their children", foraging by the fields and playing at the foot of the mountain. It will surely be a feast for the eyes.

The sika deer population in the reserve continues to grow, and according to incomplete statistics, it has grown to several thousand individuals. In addition to sika deer, the reserve also has 175 other vertebrate species, including the Chinese schizothorax, blue pheasant, leopard cat, forest musk deer, and goral.
The mountains are high and the valleys are deep, the climate is relatively warm, the forest vegetation is lush, the mountain system is well developed, and there are many rivers.

The reserve is open to the public and does not have a formal ticket charging mechanism. However, Chong'er Township staff may collect relevant fees from time to time within the reserve.

The Tiebu Sika Deer Nature Reserve was established to protect the endangered sika deer population and the surrounding ecosystem. It plays a crucial role in preserving the region’s biodiversity, particularly the sika deer, which is a symbol of local wildlife conservation efforts.
The Tiebu Sika Deer Nature Reserve is located in the Aba Qiang and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan. The closest city is Chengdu, from which you can take a long-distance bus or taxi to the reserve. There are no metro connections, but it is possible to drive or take a tour from Chengdu.
The reserve is open daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The best times to visit are during the spring and autumn months when the weather is mild and wildlife is most active.
The entrance fee is around 50 CNY per person. Tickets can be purchased onsite at the visitor center, and there are no online ticketing options available at this time.
Booking tickets in advance is not necessary, but it is recommended during peak tourist seasons. Booking a few days in advance should be sufficient.
To fully explore the Tiebu Sika Deer Nature Reserve, including hiking and wildlife observation, you will need about 3 to 4 hours. If you plan to participate in eco-tourism activities, a full day might be ideal.
Guided tours are available in Mandarin and are highly recommended for an in-depth experience. Audio guides are not available at this time.
Start with a visit to the visitor center to understand the reserve’s mission and wildlife conservation efforts. Then, take a hike on one of the well-marked trails to observe wildlife and enjoy the scenic views. End your visit with a stop at the observation deck to see the deer up close.
Night visits and special tours are not available at the Tiebu Sika Deer Nature Reserve. The reserve is best visited during daylight hours for wildlife observation.
The reserve is not usually very crowded, but weekends and public holidays can attract more visitors. To avoid crowds, visit on weekdays during the morning hours.
There are basic facilities at the visitor center, including toilets, rest areas, and a small shop. You should bring your own water and snacks, as food options are limited in the reserve.
The reserve has some accessibility features, but the terrain can be rough, especially on hiking trails. It may be challenging for elderly or disabled visitors. Children may enjoy the trails but should be supervised due to the uneven terrain.

There are several guesthouses and hotels in Aba, which is about 30 minutes from the reserve. Some popular choices include local Tibetan-style guesthouses that offer a cozy, cultural experience.
There are small souvenir shops near the reserve selling local handicrafts, Tibetan jewelry, and traditional clothing items. The most popular souvenirs are handwoven textiles and locally made jewelry.
After visiting the Tiebu Sika Deer Nature Reserve, the best way to continue your trip is by taking a taxi or local bus to nearby towns, or by renting a vehicle to explore the Aba region further.
