The New Year Picture Museum, established in 1996, is one of only two professional New Year picture museums in China. A three-dimensional structure, it seamlessly blends modernity with tradition. Its stair-step structure creates a high center and low ends. The designers reportedly hoped this would bring inspiration to the Chinese New Year picture tradition of "rising step by step and becoming increasingly prosperous."
The museum houses a collection of Mianzhu New Year paintings from various periods, ranging from the oldest carved "Door God" New Year paintings to today's innovative stone carvings, embroidery, and pottery New Year paintings. Among them, a masterpiece, "Welcoming Spring," by the veteran artist Huang Ruigu from the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, stands out. This work, known as "Along the River During the Qingming Festival," and other artworks have been exhibited numerous times in countries such as the United States, France, and the United Kingdom.
