The traditional Chengdu leisure tradition of "drinking tea and watching opera" has been revived and promoted at Chengdu Image Store at No. 16 Narrow Alley. As the only restaurant in Kuanzhai Alley that blends Sichuan cuisine, Sichuan opera, and the ambiance of traditional Chengdu, Chengdu Image adds a touch of traditional Chengdu culture to this historic alley, allowing Sichuanese residents to reminisce about their leisurely lives of yesteryear and allowing foreign tourists to experience the charm of Sichuan opera firsthand.
Chengdu Image boasts a five-story building with an antique atmosphere, and paintings depicting scenes from the past of Chengdu adorn the walls. The basement floor houses a teahouse and stage, recreating the authentic atmosphere of the city. The stage is located in the center of the building, within a corner patio that connects the upper and lower floors. This provides protection from wind and rain while allowing sunlight to filter through. For this reason, the Sichuan opera troupe at Chengdu Image is named the "Narrow Patio Troupe."
