Cuiyue Lake is located on the banks of the Minjiang River at the foot of Qingcheng Mountain, 8 kilometers away from Dujiangyan. Due to its outstanding green ecological natural environment, it enjoys the reputation of "Little West Lake in Sichuan".

Legend has it that after Li Bing, the prefect of Shu Prefecture, and his sons organized the construction of the Dujiangyan Irrigation System, a beautiful lake formed not far downstream from the outer reaches of the Minjiang River. The lakeside boasts picturesque scenery, lush vegetation, and flocks of egrets and sika deer. A descendant of Li Bing, a girl named Cuiyue, often sailed down the river to admire the birds and bathe in the water. Over time, the lake became known as Cuiyue Lake.
