The Sichuan Army Memorial to the Martyrs of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression is located in the People's Park of Chengdu, Sichuan Province. The monument was built in 1944 to commemorate the more than 600,000 Sichuan Army soldiers who died in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.
The monument depicts a Sichuan Army soldier, wearing shorts and leggings, carrying a conical hat and broadsword, clutching a rifle, and two grenades slung across his chest. He gazes forward, like a soldier about to charge. The soldier was modeled after Zhang Langxuan, a messenger squad leader of the 3rd Battalion, 745th Regiment, 373rd Brigade, 125th Division, 45th Army, 22nd Group Army, under Deng Xihou's Sichuan Army.
