Zhenwu Ancient Town is located in the southeast of Zhiping Street Office, Jiangjin District, Chongqing City. Zhenwu Ancient Town was originally a wasteland with wild grass. After the middle of the Kangxi period, Hakka people from Huguang, Jiangxi, Fujian, Guangdong and other provinces continued to come here to open up wasteland and settle down. They began to build ancestral temples and hometown association halls.

The ancient town boasts a number of outstanding architectural structures: Tianshang Temple, Nanhua Temple, and Wanshou Temple, all representing the Hakka Immigrant Association of Jiangxi, Fujian, and Guangdong Provinces; the Wu Zejun Residence, a 20th-century European-style residence; and the Ma Family Western-style residence, a colonial-style residence dating back to the Republican era. The three palaces, all built in the mid-to-late Qing Dynasty, are traditional quadrangle courtyards. These buildings, with their imposing grandeur and magnificent structure, particularly the Ma Family Western-style residence, boast an intricate layout and unique composition, contributing to the ancient town's cultural landscape.
