Introducing Dadong River

Dadonghe Township, located in the southwest of Wulong District, Chongqing, is the source of the Shiliang River, a primary tributary of the Wujiang River. The Dadonghe Scenic Area boasts a precipitous river valley (approximately 300 meters high), a naturally occurring bridge, the mysterious Dadong River estuary, the unique Longtiangou rock fields, naturally occurring giant salamanders, diverse waterfalls, and macaques, a nationally protected species.

The entire canyon has a quiet environment, charming scenery, and well-preserved original vegetation. You can explore the deep canyon, see the beautiful forest, view the strange rocks, play in the quiet water, and enjoy the changing scenery as you move around, which is very interesting.

Longtiangou (Golden Valley)

Longtiangou, located in the upper reaches of the Dadong River Gorge, at the junction of the Dadong River and Nanchuan, stretches approximately 5 kilometers. Overlooking it, you'll find a vast expanse of 12 water-filled stone terraces. Legend has it that 12 dragons bathed and frolicked here, hence the name Longtiangou. The karst topography of Longtiangou is striking, creating breathtaking scenery. In summer and autumn, monkeys frequent the area, and the cascading springs and waterfalls are a true delight. The canyon's high cliffs reach the sky, yet the landscape is lush and verdant. Even in the sweltering heat of June, the sun rarely shines through. Trekking through the valley, playing in the water, and having fun are truly pleasurable.

Shenlong Gorge Fissure

Going down from Longtiangou is the Shenlong Gorge fissure, also known as the "Line of Sky". It is about 3 kilometers long and looks like a dragon passing through. There are many dangerous rocks, steep cliffs, strange peaks and waterfalls, stalactites everywhere, and narrow ravines. The narrowest part is only 3 or 4 meters wide. Looking up, you can only see a strip of sky.

Self-generated bridge

The bridge, emerging from the Shenlong fissure, is home to the Zisheng Bridge, reminiscent of bamboo from an ancient paper mill. The bridge deck boasts a 200-300-meter-wide lawn. Because bamboo grows abundantly along the Dadong River, papermaking began here before liberation, supplying the surrounding area.

Dadong Underground River

5 kilometers upstream along the Dadong River, the entrance to the underground river is located next to the Zisheng Bridge. The river flows into a huge cave and flows out under the Zisheng Bridge, hence the name Dadong River. 200 meters into the cave, the entrance narrows to 2-3 meters, allowing the cave to accommodate any flow.
