Xituo Ancient Town, located in Shizhu Tujia Autonomous County, Chongqing, was originally named Xijietuo, formerly known as the "Western Boundary of Bazhou." It earned its name from its location on the south bank of the Yangtze River, facing Shibaozhai, a pearl of the Yangtze River, across the river. Historically, it has been a key deepwater port in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and is now a key tourist gateway to Huangshui National Forest Park.

As early as the Neolithic Age, ancestors of the Tujia people flourished in Xituo Town. Remains of the Shang and Zhou dynasties have been discovered at Guanyin Temple, Shawan, Zhuanwaxi, and Gonglongbei. Wandering through the ancient town, ascending the Yunti Street, you'll find layers of Tujia stilt houses, imbued with Tujia characteristics. Among these are the remains of ancient buildings such as Ziyun Palace, Yuwang Palace, Wantian Palace, and Guihua Palace.
