Introducing Shibaozhai in Zhongxian County

Located in Shibao Town, Chongqing, Shibao Fortress was first built during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. Its tower, perched high against Yuyin Mountain, rises majestically, its eaves and wings spreading outward, creating a unique shape. The entire structure, comprising the fortress gate, the main structure, and a rooftop stone pagoda, stands 56 meters tall, 12 stories tall, and is entirely made of wood. Shibao Fortress is the largest and most multi-story existing wooden structure in my country.

Surrounded by a massive embankment, it has become a large "bonsai" on the Yangtze River, earning it the nickname "Little Penglai" of the Yangtze River. It is one of the 30 best new tourist attractions in the Three Gorges, one of the Seven Wonders of China on the Discovery Channel, and one of the Eight Strangest Buildings in the World.
