Introducing Shi Family Compound

The Shi Family Compound embodies the unique style of Qing Dynasty residential architecture. Located in the heart of the ancient town of Yangliuqing, on the banks of the Nanyun River, where the Grand Canal flows through Tianjin, the Shi Family Compound was originally the residence of Shi Yuanshi, one of Tianjin's Eight Great Families in the late Qing Dynasty. The Shi Family Compound is now the only remaining residence of the "Zunmei Hall" mansion, once known as "Tianjin's First Family" and "North China's First Residence." It offers a glimpse into the exquisiteness of traditional residential architecture.

Entering the Shi Family Compound, you'll find a long, wide corridor, with five courtyards on each side. The eastern courtyard houses the inner residence, housing the accounting office, a waiting room, a study, a mandarin duck hall, and the inner family's living quarters. It currently displays Yangliuqing New Year paintings, clay sculptures, wood carvings, brick carvings, and Tianjin folk customs, making for a fascinating exploration. The western courtyard houses the grand living room for receiving distinguished guests, a warm hall, a theater, and an ancestral hall.

Zunmei Hall

Known as "the first house in western Tianjin" and "the first residence in North China," Zunmeitang is the largest private residence in northern China. Long corridor

The long corridor of the Shi Family Compound stretches approximately 800 meters. The east side of the corridor, originally the Shi family's living quarters, now houses an exhibition area showcasing masterpieces of Yangliuqing woodblock New Year paintings and brick carvings. The west side, featuring a flower hall, theater, and Buddhist hall, was where the Shi family met with friends, entertained, and chanted Buddhist scriptures. It is now the museum's "Shi Mansion Reconstruction Exhibition Area."
