Introducing Baisikou Twin Pagodas

The Baisikou Twin Pagodas are a national key cultural relic protection unit and the most complete Xixia pagodas to date. They have a history of nearly 1,000 years and are rare artistic treasures in the history of Chinese pagoda architecture. They have high historical and cultural value, research value and ornamental value in Xixia archaeology, architecture and Buddhism.

The tower is a pair of brick pagodas. The tower on the east side of the mountain pass is called the East Tower. It is a regular octagonal building with 13 floors. Under the eaves of each floor, there are reliefs of various animal heads on each side. The West Tower is also 13 floors high. It is thicker than the East Tower and has a parabolic shape. Inscriptions in Sanskrit and Xixia script and silver coins from the Yuan Dynasty have been found here.

The "Jixiangbianzhi Kouhe Benxu" unearthed here is the world's earliest wood movable type printed version, and plays an important role in dating the time of the invention of printing in China.
