Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden is located on the north side of Songjiang New City, Songjiang District, Shanghai, within the Sheshan National Tourist Resort. It is a comprehensive botanical garden jointly built by the Shanghai Municipal Government, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the State Forestry Administration, integrating scientific research, popular science and sightseeing.
It consists of four functional areas: the central display area, the plant conservation area, the five continents plant area and the peripheral buffer zone. The central display area is equipped with 26 plant specialty gardens.
The central exhibition area and the periphery of the Chenshan Plant Conservation Area are surrounded by a green ring with a total length of 4,500 meters and an average height of 6 meters.
