Wusongkou Paotaiwan Wetland Forest Park is located in the eastern part of Baoshan District, with its back to the mountain and in front of the water. It is adjacent to the Yangtze River and Huangpu River to the east, with a coastline along the river as long as 1,974.13 meters. Its southwest corner is the famous Wusongkou. During the Qing Dynasty, this terrain was used to build a naval artillery platform, so it was named Paotaiwan.

The Qing government built a naval fort here, earning it the name " Pao Taiwan . " Renowned Qing general Chen Huacheng died here while leading his troops against the British. In the late Qing Dynasty, China's first railway, the Songhu Railway , ran from here to the Laobei Station in Zhabei, Shanghai. During the early stages of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the 19th Route Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army twice fought tenaciously against the Japanese. After liberation, Pao Taiwan became a vital coastal defense fortress.

Today, this park, along with nearby attractions such as the Shanghai Naval Expo, Baoshan Martyrs Cemetery, Linjiang Park, and the Songhu Battle Memorial Hall, forms a complete Shanghai military cultural journey.
