The International Christian Chapel, located at No. 53 Hengshan Road , Xujiahui District, is the largest Christian church in Shanghai and was built in 1925. It is L- shaped and has a modern Gothic brick and wood structure.

Standing under the lush plane trees beside the road and looking inside through the European-style iron fence, you can see the elegant red brick building of the International Chapel against the backdrop of the year-round green lawn, showing its unique solemnity, dignity and peace.

The International Chapel began with a choir. In the early 20th century, a group of American Christians in Shanghai organized a choir on Dumei Road (now Donghu Road). Later, due to space constraints, a separate chapel was built. The International Chapel was once renowned in Shanghai for its beautiful sacred music.
