Chongming Academy. Walk out of Chongming South Gate Wharf and only walk two or three hundred meters, and you can see the stacked ancient buildings of Chongming Academy. It is one of the only three remaining academies in Shanghai today, also known as Chongming Museum.
The largest building in Chongming Academy is the Dacheng Hall, reminiscent of the main hall in a temple. It was the place where Confucius was worshipped, and the east and west wings served as dormitories for the 72 disciples. The Dacheng Hall is currently used as an exhibition hall for ancient ships, while the east wing features photos and biographies of prominent Chongming figures, as well as some ancient artifacts unearthed in Chongming.
The museum houses three exhibitions: " The Formation and Development of Chongming Island , " " Cultural Relics in the Museum Collection , " and " Natural History Museum , " which systematically introduce Chongming's long history and cultural heritage. The most distinctive features of the academy are the Ancient Ship Exhibition Hall and the Chongming Folk Customs Exhibition Hall.
