Introducing Nanxiang Twin Towers

The Nanxiang Twin Towers are located on Nanxiang Town Street in Jiading District, Shanghai. They are the oldest among the ancient towers in Shanghai and the only remaining pair of oldest imitation wooden structure pavilion-style brick towers in the country. They not only have extremely high artistic value, but also provide precious physical materials for the study of ancient Chinese architectural history, religious history, and local history.

The Nanxiang Five Dynasties Brick Pagoda, originally built between the Five Dynasties and the early Northern Song Dynasty, originally stood inside the gate of Baihe Nanxiang Temple. It is the oldest brick pagoda in Shanghai. In 1766 , the 31st year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty, a fire destroyed the temple, leaving only the brick pagoda as the oldest above-ground cultural relic in Nanxiang Ancient Town. Nearby are two ancient wells, both covered with glass, and nearby are the ruins of the old temple.
