Shanghai Xincheng Central Park, after nearly a year of construction, opened in December 1999. The park covers 4.3 hectares (approximately 65 mu), with a total investment of 45 million yuan, including 30 million yuan for land and 15 million yuan for civil engineering, gardening, and landscaping.
Shanghai Shencheng Central Park, listed as one of Minhang District's 1999 practical projects, was jointly designed by the Shanghai Landscape Architecture Design Institute and the Jiaotong University Landscape Architecture Design Institute.
Shanghai has a subtropical monsoon climate, characterized by mild and humid weather, distinct seasons, ample sunshine, and abundant rainfall. Spring and autumn are relatively short, while winter and summer are longer.
The layout of the entire park can be summarized as "two axes and one center."
The east-west axis, consisting of the Big Stone Square, the iconic dry fountain, the Four Seasons Flower Garden, the European-style colonnade, and the Sun Square – the Modern Axis;
The north-south secondary axis, the historical axis, consists of a forest plank road and a French-style heavily pruned portal green corridor, and the two axes intersect at the Municipal Square.
There are clusters of flowers in the green square, sparse woods and grasslands with sunshades, a water stage next to the beach, waterfalls at the source and fountains, and a jade belt lying across the clear water lake.
