Fuxing Island Park is located at No. 386 Gongqing Road, Yangpu District, Shanghai, 6 kilometers away from Wusongkou. It faces the Huangpu River to the east, south and north, and the Fuxing Island Canal to the west.

Because the park was converted from a former sports association garden, it has a strong foundation for greenery. When it first opened, it was surrounded by bamboo fences and its paths were paved with coal cinders. In addition to the original Junpu Bureau building, the park's buildings included two thatched pavilions, a wooden wisteria trellis, and several simple Japanese-style houses erected by the Japanese army. In 1972, a perimeter wall and ticket booth were constructed along Gongqing Road. In 1976, all paths were paved with concrete and stone. After 1980, a rest corridor was built and a wisteria trellis was installed. The large lawn on the north side of the park covers nearly 10,000 square meters, with a central cluster of camphor trees. At the south end, a porch with reinforced concrete tables and benches stands. North of the lawn is the former Junpu Bureau Sports Association building, a brick and wood structure with a platform in front and a wisteria trellis to the west.

The park's center is a garden area, divided into east and west sections by paths, both retaining the Japanese garden style. The eastern section features a small mound with scattered stones and planted with evergreen spherical shrubs such as Pittosporum and Boxwood. Northwest of the mound lies a small heart-shaped pond with an island in the center and a flat bridge to the south. The western section features a wisteria corridor, adjacent to a small lawn, surrounded by an osmanthus forest and a tree-lined path.

The park has a subtropical monsoon climate. It is mainly plant-based and surrounded by palm trees, metasequoia trees, coral trees and other trees as hedges.
