The Wangtian'e Scenic Area is located in the central part of Changbai Korean Autonomous County, Jilin Province, 45 kilometers from Changbai County. The Wangtian'e Volcano, seen from afar, resembles a swan with its head held high, a breathtaking sight that gave the area its name. The steep, deep ravines, reaching depths of up to 450 meters, are home to the Wangtian'e Canyon, a collection of stunning rock formations and cascading waterfalls.
Wangtian'e Volcano is a huge central eruption and overflow basalt volcanic cone, and a huge caldera. The lava platform was formed by the underground magma overflowing during the volcanic eruption. The weathering and erosion over the long years have created this basalt canyon stretching for dozens of kilometers. The volcanic geological relics and landscapes formed by the volcanic caldera in the valley are very rare.
The ecology here is pristine, with a wide variety of species, towering ancient trees, leaping fish and croaking frogs, rare birds and animals, hundreds of herbs and Chinese medicinal herbs, numerous strange rocks, and cascading waterfalls.
