
Ma Bufang Mansion, located in Chengdong District, Xining City, Qinghai Province, is the most complete building from the Republic of China period preserved in Qinghai Province. It is also the only official residence in the country built with jade. It has high historical and cultural value and rich local ethnic cultural characteristics.
The courtyard of Ma Bufang's mansion covers an area of nearly 30,000 square meters and has a total of 298 houses . It consists of seven independent but connected courtyards, namely the front courtyard, the middle courtyard, the south courtyard, the West Courtyard No. 1, the West Courtyard No. 2, the West Courtyard No. 3 and the back garden . Each courtyard and important hall is connected by secret passages. The courtyard is exquisitely designed and the architecture is simple and elegant. The whole courtyard exudes the deep, solemn and mysterious atmosphere of the old house.
The back garden at the southern end of the mansion is planted with valuable flowers and trees, as well as pavilions and terraces, and the famous " Xiaoquan " is also located within it. The scenic area was rated as a national 4A tourist attraction in 2007 .
